Lady Rebels Finish Tied For Fifth At Waterlefe Invitational

TAMPA, Fla. - Bernadette Luse and Nikki Hadd posted top-25 finishes to help push the Ole Miss women's golf team to a tie for fifth in the team standings at the Waterlefe Invitational on Tuesday, with a score of 309-306-307-922.
The tournament, which was hosted by the University of South Florida, was played at the Waterlefe Golf Club on a par-72, 5,909-yard course. TCU claimed the team title with an overall score of 307-292-299-898 behind the play of Drea Ward who claimed individual medalist honors with a score of 76-70-71-217.
"We played well today, and played steady all weekend," said Ole Miss head coach Meghan Bolger. "There were a lot of positive things that we had come out of this tournament. We played hard and we played well on a tough course to finish in the top-five of the field."
Luse, who serves as team captain, led the squad in the tournament. She finished the event tied for sixth overall with a score of 75-73-74-222. The sixth place finish is the third top-10 finish of the year for Luse.
Nikki Hadd, a sophomore on the squad, finished tied for the No. 21 spot in the standings after carding a score of 78-76-77-231. Laura Evans, one of two freshmen for the Lady Rebels, fired a score of 77-81-77-235 to tie for the No. 31 spot overall.
Senior Kerrie Davis tied for the No. 47 spot in the final standings with her three-round total of 79-79-84-242, while freshman Sarah Kate Cousart tied for the No. 55 spot with a score of 87-78-79-244. Senior Roiann Boisture competed as an individual in the event and tied for the No. 72 spot in the standings as she fired an 85-97-79-261.
Ole Miss will take two weeks off in preparation for the final tournament of the season before the Southeastern Conference Championships. The Lady Rebels will compete at the Liz Murphey Intercollegiate in Athens, Ga., April 4-6, 2003.
