Horne Undergoes Successful Surgery Thursday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss sophomore right-hander Alan Horne underwent successful ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery, otherwise known as Tommy John surgery, Thursday morning in Birmingham. The procedure lasted approximately 90 minutes.
"We talked to Alan's family today and they said the surgery was successful," said Ole Miss assistant athletic trainer Steve Beiermann. "They said Alan came out of the procedure with the best-case scenario."
Rehabilitation following Tommy John surgery is usually 9-to-12 months, and the Rebels are expecting Horne to return to the rotation in time for the 2004 season.
Horne was 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA in five appearances, including four starts, this season for the Rebels. He had also struck out 19 while walking seven in 25 2/3 innings pitched.
Ole Miss (20-12, 7-5 Southeastern Conference), is scheduled to open a three-game SEC series at No. 8 LSU (22-10-1, 9-2-1 SEC) Friday evening at 7 p.m., at Alex Box Stadium.
