OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss will continue its two-week homestand with a pair of midweek games against Tennessee-Martin on Tuesday and Memphis on Wednesday. First pitch for both games is 6:30 p.m., at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
The Rebels also announced Monday that they have added a home game for next Monday, April 28 versus Tennessee Tech. Game time is also 6:30 p.m., at Swayze Field. The game was added in place of the February 15 home against Louisiana Tech that cancelled due to inclement weather.
Ole Miss is 24-16 on the season after winning 2-of-3 from Alabama in a Southeastern Conference series this past weekend in Oxford. The Rebels are 10-8 in the SEC and in fifth place in the SEC Western Division. Ole Miss will play host to SEC East Division-leading South Carolina (25-15, 9-9 SEC) in a three-game series in Oxford this weekend beginning Friday night.
Junior right-hander Jeremy Zick (3-3, 2.30 ERA) is scheduled to start Tuesday night for Ole Miss against UT-Martin. Zick made his first career start last Wednesday against Southeastern Louisiana, allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits and two walks in 5.0 innings to earn the win in the Rebels' 16-6 victory.
Redshirt freshman right-hander Anthony Cupps (3-2, 2.41 ERA) is slated to be Wednesday's starter against Memphis. He made his first career SEC start in Saturday's loss to Alabama.
Senior shortstop Chad Sterbens will bring an eight-game hitting streak into Tuesday night's contest, and senior catcher Charlie Waite is batting .394 with three home runs and 10 RBIs over the last 10 games.
Tennessee-Martin brings a 12-18-1 record into Tuesday's game with Ole Miss. The Skyhawks are coming off a weekend in which they lost 2-of-3 at Eastern Kentucky in an Ohio Valley Conference series.
Senior infielder Brady Nighswonger is batting .397 with four home runs and 17 RBIs in 31 games for UT-Martin this season.
Freshman right-hander Justin Bryant (3-1, 5.09 ERA) is slated to start on the mound Tuesday night for the Skyhawks.
Memphis is 12-27 on the season entering a Tuesday night home game with Arkansas State. The Tigers have not announced a starter for Wednesday's game at Ole Miss.
Wednesday night's game will be the second meeting of the year between the two teams. The Rebels beat the Tigers 5-1 at AutoZone Park back on March 12.
Tuesday and Wednesday's games can both be heard locally in Oxford on WTNM Supertalk Mississippi 105.5 FM and on stations along the Ole Miss Radio Network. Please check local listings for an affiliate in your area. Air time both nights is 6:15 p.m.
