OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's golf team continues its 2004 spring campaign with the 15th-annual Beau Chene Intercollegiate Monday in Mandeville, La. The 36-hole event, hosted by Southeastern Louisiana, kicks off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT.
The Rebels will be joined in the 15-team field by Campbell, Drake, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas State, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, Memphis, Nicholls State, Sam Houston State, Southern Miss, Stephen F. Austin, Troy State and the host Lions.
"We are looking forward to this invitational," Ole Miss head coach Woody Cowart said. "It appears to be another strong field and we will have to be ready to compete.
"These 36 holes will give us a good indication of how our younger golfers are coming along. As has been the case from day one, we are looking to improve - as a team and as individuals - each time we hit the course."
Ole Miss is coming off a sixth-place finish in the nine-team Nokia Sugar Bowl/Tulane Invitational. In their spring season-opener Feb. 9-10 in New Orleans, the Rebels fired rounds of 294, 302 and 306 to finish with a score of 902.
