OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss' Genice Terry has been selected to the 2004 Verizon Academic All-District VI Division Women's Basketball Second Team, as announced by CoSida. It is the first such honor for Terry, a senior on the Lady Rebel basketball team.

Terry, a Raymond, Miss., native, ranks second on the team in scoring with 12.8 points per game and first on the team and third in the SEC in steals with 2.7 per game, carries a 3.50 grade point average in Accounting. Terry has posted double-figures in 18 games this season, including a career-high 26 points in the Lady Rebels' win over Florida.

"We are really proud of the way Genice represents our team," said Ole Miss head coach Carol Ross. "She embodies the true meaning of a student-athlete. Her performance both on the court and in the classroom is indicative of that."

The Academic All-America Teams program honors 816 male and female student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom. Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America; a 2,000-member organization consisted of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Division I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.

The Lady Rebels currently own a 15-10 overall record, including a 6-5 mark in SEC play. They play host to #3/3 Tennessee on Sunday, Feb. 22. Game time is slated for 2 p.m., at Tad Smith Coliseum.
