OXFORD, Miss. - Sophomore first baseman Stephen Head went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and redshirt freshman designated hitter Mark Wright was 2-for-4 with a home run as No. 4 (Collegiate Baseball) Ole Miss defeated Southeastern Louisiana 11-3 Tuesday night in front of 1,836 at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.

With the win, Ole Miss improves to 21-3 on the season, while Southeastern Louisiana dropped to 7-15.

Sophomore left-hander Eric Fowler (3-0) tied a career-high with eight strikeouts over six innings, and limited the Lions to one run on four hits and two walks in earning the win.

Freshman right-hander Brandon Strickland (0-3) was charged with the loss, allowing five runs on nine hits and two walks, while striking out one in five innings.

The Rebels broke open a 1-1 game with four runs in the fifth. Charlie Babineaux broke the tie with a two-out RBI single to score Matt Tolbert, who reached after being by a pitch to start the inning. Alex Presley followed Babineaux with a triple to make it 3-1 and Wright capped the inning with his two-run home run. The homer was his first of the season.

Ole Miss plated two more in the sixth to make it 7-1 and after the Lions scored two in the eighth to cut it to 7-3, the Rebels added four insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to make it 11-3.

The Rebels out-hit the Lions 18-6 on the evening as 11 different Ole Miss players recorded at least one hit, including all nine starters.

Freshman third baseman Chris Coghlan also picked up three hits and two RBIs for Ole Miss. Babineaux finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs to extend his hitting streak to a career-best nine games.

Anthony Garibaldi went 2-for-3 to lead Southeastern Louisiana at the plate.

The two teams will conclude their two-game series Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. Sophomore left-hander Matt Maloney (0-0, 3.86 ERA) will draw his first career start for Ole Miss, opposite senior left-hander Mark Weinmunson (2-1, 4.19 ERA).
