Ole Miss Ties For Sixth At Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The Ole Miss men's golf team finished in tie for sixth place with the University of Kansas in the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate hosted by Vanderbilt University at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. Ole Miss carded a 9-over-par 297 on Sunday, giving them a tournament total of 297-285-297--879. The University of Virginia took home the team title with their three-round total of 292-285-281--858.
Junior Callum Macaulay was the top individual finisher for the Rebels. The Kincardine, Scotland, native, finished in a tie for 15th place after posting a 3-over-par 75 on the final day of competition. Macaulay posted a tournament total of 72-70-75--217. He was 1-over-par for the tournament.
Fellow junior Chris Rogers finished on Macaulay's heels as he tied for 18th place. Rogers shot a 1-over-par 73 on Sunday. He concluded the 54-hole tournament 2-over par at 74-71-73--218. Junior Kyle Ellis shot a 76 on Sunday's final 18 holes to finish in at tie for 29th place with his three-day total of 75-71-76--222. Senior Derek Abel was not far behind Ellis as he finished in a tie for 37st with his tournament total of 76-73-75--224.
"Overall, I am pleased with our performance," said Ole Miss head coach Ernest Ross. "Callum Macaulay had a nice tournament and so did Chris Rogers. For the tournament we had three rounds under par. That is great effort. We just need to get a few more rounds like that to win a tough tournament like this."
Freshman Jamie Howarth rounded out the scoring for Ole Miss as he has posted his tournament best mark of 2-over-par 74 on Sunday. Howarth finished the tournament in a tie for 52nd place with his 54-hole total of 77-79-74--230. Freshman Larry Blatt competed as an individual and ended the tournament in a tie for 48th place. Blatt posted a three-round total of 75-74-79--228. Blatt's score did not count towards the team score.
Luke List of the host school Vanderbilt was the overall individual champion. List carded a 72-72-65--209 over 54 holes.
The Rebels will take a weekend off before traveling to Ruston, La., for the Squire Creek Intercollegiate on Oct. 17-18.
