Lady Rebels Host Tennessee State On "School Day"

The Lady Rebels (4-1) will host Tennessee State (0-3) for "School Day" on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 11 a.m. Elementary and middle school students from across the state of Mississippi will be in Tad Smith Coliseum to watch the game as a part of a field trip.

Ole Miss is led on the season by junior guard Armintie Price with 19.4 points and 13.2 rebounds per game. Price, a preseason All-SEC first team selection, recently eclipsed the 1,000-point and 600-rebound marks. She currently sits in 20th place on the Ole Miss all-time scoring chart with 1,044 points.

Senior guard Ashley Johnson is averaging 10.8 points per game and has made 11-of-29 shots from beyond the arc. Johnson led Ole Miss in the win over Clemson with 21 points, including making 5-of-9 from three-point range.

Junior Ashley Awkward and sophomore Tasi Worsham have been handling the point guard duties for Ole Miss. Awkward is averaging 8.8 points per outing, while Worsham is adding 5.8 per game. The duo has dished a combined 25 assists in Ole Miss' first five games and has also collected 17 steals.

Sophomore forward Carla Bartee is adding 8.0 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. The Waynesboro, Miss., native, has scored 40 points in just 69 minutes of play. Fellow sophomore forward Danetra Forrest is averaging 7.8 and 3.2 rebounds per outing. Forrest has made 15-of-29 shots from the foul line.

Under the direction of third-year head coach Carol Ross, the Lady Rebels are 40-26. Ross, who played at Ole Miss from 1979-82, earned SEC Co-Coach of the Year honors in 2004 after guiding Ole Miss back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight seasons. Ross' Lady Rebels returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2004-05, falling to George Washington in the first round of play.

Tennessee State enters Wednesday's contest with an 0-3 record. The Tigers have dropped games to Marshall (57-81), Ohio (69-74) and Belmont (54-75).

The Tigers are led by freshman guard-forward Obiageli Okafor's 14.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Fellow freshman guard Kendra Appling adds 12.3 points per game and also leads the team in assists with 3.3 and steals with 2.7 per contest.

Senior guard-forward Leslie Dean is dropping in 10.7 points per game and is second on the team with 4.3 caroms per contest. The Tigers have made 74.1 percent from the foul line.

Tennessee State head coach Tracee Jones is 0-3 in her first season leading the Tiger program. Her overall coaching mark is the same.
