Ole Miss senior Antwon Hicks turned in a performance to remember in his final home meet of his Rebel career at Saturday's Ole Miss Open. The Hot Springs, Ark., native and two-time NCAA Champion ran his fastest time of the season in winning the 110-meter hurdles with his time of 13.51. Hicks' winning time is also the fastest time recorded in the 110-meter hurdles in the NCAA this season.

"I cannot think of a better way to close-out my last home meet as a Rebel," said Hicks, a five-time All-American. "I had a good race. Kiss (Daniel) of Memphis really pushed me, but I felt good coming down the stretch."

In the much anticipated long jump competition, unattached world-renowned jumpers Miguel Pate and Savante' Stringfellow did not disappoint. Pate won the competition with his mark of 25-11.5, while Stringfellow opened his come back campaign with a second place mark of 25-6.75. Stringfellow is competing again for the first time since tearing his Achilles tendon last May.

Rebel sophomore Charles Bailey finished in third place with his distance of 23-8.75, while fellow Rebel junior Chris Lawson finished in fourth place with his mark of 23-4.75. Ole Miss senior Shantel Glass, the 2005 SEC Indoor Champion in the event did not record a mark, as he fouled on his three preliminary attempts.

Senior Brandon Atkinson remains unbeaten in the triple jump during the 2005 season as he took home first place with his mark of 50-8.25. Atkinson has won five-straight meets in the triple jump.

Lawson was third in the 100 meters with his personal best time of 10.46, which is an NCAA Regional qualifying mark. Junior Lamar Daley took home second place in the javelin throw with his toss of 165-6. Lawson also picked up a second place finish in the 200 meters with his time of 21.29, while Hicks was third in the 200 meters with his time of 21.66.

For the Rebel women, freshman Kenyata Coleman led a trio of Ole Miss runners in the 400 meters with her first place time of 54.07. Sophomore Kimberly Mulkey finished in second behind Coleman with her time of 56.24, while freshman Sirdonea Davis was in third with her time of 56.42.

Sophomore Amber Bledsoe turned in a season's best performance in winning the long jump. Bledsoe posted an NCAA Regional qualifying mark of 19-6.75 in taking first place. Senior LaToya McBride was second in the long jump with her mark of 18-10.75, while freshman Francis Vital was third with her distance of 18-10.5.

McBride posted an NCAA Regional qualifying performance in winning the high jump by clearing 5-8.75. Freshman Carmia Carroll was second to McBride after also clearing 5-8.75. McBride took home first by clearing with fewer misses.

Senior Octavia Carter took home first place in the 100-meter hurdles with her time of 13.98, while fellow senior Erin Jordan was first in the 1,500 meters with her time of 4:56.27. Sophomore Rachel Taff was second in the 1,500 meters with her time of 5:02.87.

The Rebel women dominated the 200 meter field as Mulkey finished first with a time of 24.39. Aldridge was second with her time of 24.48, while Bledsoe (24.70) was fourth, Stephens (24.76) was fifth and Coleman (24.93) was sixth.

Freshman Kirby Patterson was the top finisher in the 800 meters with her time of 2:15.37, while Stephens was the top finisher in the 100 meters, narrowly missing an NCAA Regional qualifying mark. Stephens clocked in at 11.76, with the regional mark at 11.75. Junior Marquita Aldridge was third in the 100 meters with her time of 11.81.

The Rebel quartet of Aldridge, Stephens, Mulkey and Coleman joined forced to win the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.38. Sophomore Shannon Chandler took home firs t place in the 5,000 meters with her time of 18:32.27.

In other field events, senior Brandie Plyler was the winner in the pole vault by clearing 10-6 and junior Kristi Stillwell was the hammer throw winner with her toss of 161-7. Freshman Alexis McField took home second place in the triple jump with her leap of 40-1.5.

Between the men's and womens teams, Ole Miss posted 14 first-place finishes, something that pleased Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker.

"What a way to conclude our home season," said Walker. "I think our kids came out and competed hard today. Our seniors had a great meet and I could not ask for more from them as a class. The foundation they have laid down on this program will be seen for years to come."

The Ole Miss track and field teams will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday, April 29 for the prestigious Drake Relays.
