Ole Miss Wraps Up Day One At Mason Rudolph Championships

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Ole Miss men's golf team wrapped up a solid first day in a tie for seventh at the Mason Rudolph Championships, seven strokes behind leader Baylor University.
The Rebel squad is tied with the host Vanderbilt Commodores after firing a 9-over 297 on Friday.
The Rebels were led by junior Callum Macaulay's even-par 72. Macaulay is in a tie for 12th place after a 35 on the front nine and 37 on the back.
Baylor shot a 2-over 290 to lead the competition after the first round, as no team was able to finish the day at even par.
Kansas Jayhawk Zach Pederson leads the field after a searing 4-under 68 to begin the tournament.
Other Rebel finishers on day one were junior Chris Rogers, who is tied for 24th with a first-round 74, junior Kyle Ellis, who is in a tie for 30th after shooting a 75, freshman Larry Blatt, who also shot a 75 but is competing as an individual, senior Derek Abel, who is tied for 40th after carding a 76, and sophomore Jamie Howarth, who rounded out the Rebel scoring with an opening-round 77.
Ole Miss will return to action Saturday morning for round two of the tournament. The top 10 teams after day one are all within 10 strokes of the lead.
