PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Eric Claesson and Juan Pablo Di Cesare of the No. 6 nationally-ranked Ole Miss men's tennis team lost their semifinal match at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic Sunday, to finish a successful weekend.
Claesson and Di Cesare lost to UCLA's Benjamin Kohlloeffel and Philip Gruendler, 8-5, in a close match.
"Eric and Juan Pablo played a good match, the other team was just a little better," assistant coach Jeff Clark said. "They (UCLA duo) are a very good team. Overall, we had a solid weekend. Eric played great in singles. Hopefully we can continue at the SEC Indoors next weekend."
In singles, Claesson, ranked No. 22 nationally, defeated Virginia's Doug Stewart and Rylan Rizza, who were both ranked among the top 20 in the fall to reach the semifinals. He improved to 16-5 on the year.
The rest of the back-to-back SEC Champion Rebels will report to campus this week as they prepare for the SEC Indoor Championships in Lexington, Ky., next weekend. The team has traditionally excelled at this tournament, which is regarded as one of the strongest individual tournaments in the nation.
