Cozart Named All-America By American Baseball Coaches Association

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss shortstop Zack Cozart continued to receive honors for his play on the field in the 2006 season as the Rebel sophomore was named as an All-America Second Team selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association on Monday.
It marks the third All-America selection for Cozart this season and second time the sophomore has been recognized by the ABCA. Cozart was also named as an All-Region selection by the ABCA last week.
"This is a tremendous honor for Zack," said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. "It's great to be recognized by coaches around the nation for your efforts on the field and Zack has certainly had a great season for us. He deserves the recognition he has received this season and we could not be more proud of him."
Cozart, who also garnered First-Team All-SEC honors from the league's coaches and was a Freshman All-America a season ago, finished the season second on the team in batting with a .338 average as he helped lead the Rebels to the second-most wins in a single season and saw Ole Miss advance to its second-straight Super Regional.
Cozart finished the year with a .975 fielding percentage as he only committed eight errors on the season. The sophomore drove in 64 runs, the second highest on the team for the season, as he tallied 10 home runs one triple and 16 doubles. He also posted multiple game-winning hits this season, including a three-run walk-off homer against Memphis and a solo home run to beat Mississippi State 1-0 in the Mayor's Trophy game. He also was a big part of the Rebels turning 69 double plays on the year.
Cozart will participate in the USA Baseball National Baseball Trials beginning on June 22, as the Memphis, Tenn., native is one of the initial 20 invitees to the camp. It marks the second-straight year Cozart has been invited to participate in the trials.
The official roster will be announced on July 2.
