Men's Tennis Dominates UAB 7-0

For the fifth straight match, the Rebels swept the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. The Rebels improved to 85-4 when they win the doubles point since the 2002 season. Ole Miss dominated the Blazers in singles, making quick work at the top three spots to conclude their five-match homestand. Senior All-American Eric Claesson downed UAB’s Tim Bauer 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. He has now won six dual matches in a row dating back to last season. Moments later, junior Robbye Poole added the third point, beating his opponent by the same score at No. 3 singles. Junior All-American Erling Tveit cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win over Blazer Hanns Spangenberg at the top spot to clinch the victory. Jakob Klaeson and Jonas Berg posted easy victories at Nos. 4 and 5 singles to make it 6-0 and then Chris Rea added the final point with a three set win at No.6 singles. “We are extremely pleased with the guys,” head coach Billy Chadwick said. “This was a great team effort. We let up a little at No. 1 doubles, but we did a good job in taking care of business in singles. “Everybody got to see action in our first five matches.
