SOUTHERN MISS NOTES
Southern Miss drops to 8-15 in NCAA Tournament games, in their eighth Regional appearance.
The Golden Eagles were shut out for the second time this season (Louisiana-Lafayette, 0-4, March 3) and the first time ever in an NCAA
Tournament contest.
Ole Miss' run in the first inning broke junior RHP Barry Bowden's 17-inning scoreless streak entering the game.
Southern Miss was held to a season-low two hits. The previous low this year was five.
OLE MISS NOTES
Ole Miss improves to 34-26 in NCAA Tournament games. The Rebels have now won eight straight Regional contests.
Sophomore RHP Lance Lynn had a no-hitter through 5 1/3 innings before Michael Ewing singled through the right side. He finished with his second complete-game shutout of the year, allowing two hits.
The Rebels recorded their fourth shutout win in postseason history, with the previous coming in the 2005 Regional vs. Maine, the 1964 District III Playoffs vs. West Virginia and the 1956 College World Series vs. Bradley.
With four hits, freshman RF Jordan Henry increased his season total to 94, tying him with David Dellucci (1995) for fourth on the all-time Rebel list. Junior LF Justin Henry's two hits give him 93 for the season, good for sixth place.
