OXFORD, Miss. The Ole Miss men’s tennis team, ranked No. 7 in this week’s national rankings, will continue on the road this weekend with matches at Vanderbilt and Kentucky.
On Friday, the Rebels face the No. 35 Commodores at 2 p.m. at the Currey Tennis Center. In its last action, Ole Miss shut out South Carolina 4-0 to improve to 13-4 overall and 4-2 in league play.
Vanderbilt improved to 10-5 overall and 2-4 in the SEC with a come-from-behind win over Alabama last Sunday. The Commodores trailed 3-1 before rallying. They are led by 75th-ranked Ryan Preston, who owns a 9-6 record at No. 1 singles.
Ole Miss has won the last three meetings with Vanderbilt by a combined score of 17-4. Last year, Ole Miss beat the Commodores 5-2 in Oxford. The Rebels defeated the Commodores 6-1 in 2006 in Nashville.
On Sunday, the Rebels will travel to Lexington, Ky., to face the Wildcats at 11 a.m. CT. Kentucky improved to 8-9 overall with a 4-2 win over No. 27 Notre Dame on Tuesday. In their last SEC action, the Wildcats upset then No. 22 Auburn 4-3 to improve to 2-4 in league play. The Wildcats are led by 48th-ranked Bruno Agostinelli, who owns a 7-5 record at No. 1 singles.
