Rebel Netters Down Kentucky 5-2 To Conclude Road Trip

With two wins this weekend, the Rebels improved to 15-4 overall and 6-2 in the SEC. They maintained their lead in the SEC West and ended the weekend tied for second in the overall conference standings, after LSU defeated In the last eight meetings, the Rebels have outscored the Wildcats (9-10, 3-5) 41-8. Ole Miss also improved to 110-7 when they capture the doubles point. With Bram ten Berge out, Robbye Poole and Matthias Wellermann teamed up for the second straight match at No. 2 doubles, and dominated The Rebels quickly went up 2-0 when Berg downed Beck 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. With the win, Berg improved to 13-1 in dual matches and 7-0 at No. 4. “We did a great job of getting off to a good start again in doubles,” head coach Billy Chadwick said. “Jonas continues to get the job done day in and day out. Robbye played great, and Jakob did a good job of closing his match out to clinch the win for us. This was a good weekend, for us to go on the road and pick up two wins to maintain our lead in the West. We have three more home matches, and we want to encourage everyone to come out Friday and help us take down the Razorbacks.” Kalle Norberg added the final point at No. 5 singles, holding off Wildcat Alberto Gonzalez in three sets. After dominating the first set 6-0, Norberg lost the second 6-2, before closing the Wildcat out in the third 6-4.
