6/8/2008 | Men's Golf
TUNICA, Miss. Two current members of the Ole Miss men’s golf team and one former member finished in the top 10 at the Mississippi State Amateur Championship over the weekend at the Tunica National Golf Club. Rising sophomore Jonathan Randolph, a native of Brandon, survived extremely windy conditions the first two rounds and came into the final round leading Canton native Trey Denton (played at Arizona) by four shots. Randolph and Kevin Jones won the Mike Magee Medalist Award with their first round one-under par 71. Kyle Ellis of Senatobia shot even par in the final round to move into 3rd place all alone at 6-over par 294. Greenville native Billy Brozovich, who redshirted this past year, finished tied for seventh at 9-over 297. The top 25 players and ties will be exempt from qualifying for next year’s state amateur championship.
