OXFORD, Miss. Fans coming out to Ole Miss men’s tennis matches this season will be seeing double, as head coach Billy Chadwick announced the addition of German twins Christoph and Marcel Thiemann.  They are regarded as two of the top prospects entering collegiate tennis.

Marcel reached a top ranking of No. 3 in Germany in 18s and No. 60 in the German men’s rankings.  He won the German Championship in doubles in 2003 and was runner-up in 2005 as well as finishing third in singles in 2005.

Christoph achieved a ranking of No. 7 in Germany in 18s and No. 80 in the German men’s rankings.  He reached the semifinals at the German National Championship in u-18 and the doubles final in u-16 with Marcel.

“The twins are two of the top players from Germany," Chadwick said.  "They have excelled in both singles and doubles, and they have the experience and talent to contribute to the team immediately.  In addition, they are outstanding students, and will be great representatives of the University.”

Marcel and Christoph, in addition to Mississippi native Devin Britton (announced Monday), complete the 2009 team for the No. 9 nationally ranked Rebels.

The entire squad will head to Lexington, Ky., this weekend for the SEC Indoor Championships.
