OXFORD, Miss. - On the heels of an 80-42 victory over Southeastern Louisiana Friday afternoon, the Ole Miss women's basketball teams looks to make it two in a row when the Rebels travel to Huntsville, Texas, to take on Sam Houston State Tuesday at noon from Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.

Rebel junior guard Kayla Melson tallied just the third triple-double in school history when she tallied 11 points, a career-high 11 rebounds and a career-high 11 assists to help Ole Miss improve to 30-6 all-time in season openers. Melson joined current Ole Miss assistant coach Armintie Price and former All-American Eugenia Conner as the only three Rebels to ever post a triple-double.

All-SEC guard Bianca Thomas finished with a game-high 22 points and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds to collect her first career double-double. Fellow senior Elizabeth Robertson chipped in with 10 points and connected on two three-pointers.

The Rebel defense limited Southeastern Louisiana to 26.8 percent shooting from the field and held the Lady Lions to just 14.3 percent from three-point range. The Rebels, however, finished the game 50.9 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from beyond the arc and held a 43-25 rebounding edge.

The Rebels have now won 23 straight games in which they scored at least 80 points.

Led by fourth-year head coach Brenda Welch-Nichols, Sam Houston State opened its season Saturday with a 91-52 loss at Texas Tech. Senior guard Whitney Smith paced the Bearkats with 14 points, while junior forward Terrah Austin added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Last season, Sam Houston state finished the season with an 9-20 overall record and a 6-10 record in the Southland Conference en route to a seventh place finish.

Ole Miss owns an impressive 32-6 all-time record against teams from the Southland Conference. The Rebels have won 21 of their last 22 games against Southland Conference competition, which includes a perfect 4-0 mark during the Renee Ladner era. Ole Miss' last loss to a foe from the Southland Conference came in the form of a 66-55 setback to UT-Arlington during the 2006-07 season. The Rebels defeated Southland Conference foe Southeastern Louisiana for the 12th straight time Friday afternoon with an 80-42 victory inside Tad Smith Coliseum.

Tuesday's game will be the first ever meeting on the hardwood between Ole Miss and Sam Houston State.
