Ladner Speaks At University After Hours
11/4/2009 | Women's Basketball
Monthly University After Hours programs enable faculty and staff to become better acquainted, extend relationships across campus units and foster a sense of community, as well as obtain information that's important to them.
The programs are organized by faculty and staff alumni members of the Oxford chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi and Ole Miss Catering. Coach Ladner provided an overview of the women's basketball program and encouraged faculty and staff to support the program.
In just her second season since being promoted from her previous position as an assistant coach, Ladner guided Ole Miss to an 18-15 overall record and a berth in the postseason for the fifth time in the last six years. She produced one of the top turnarounds in the country by leading Ole Miss to five more wins than in her first season. The Rebels also reached at least the second round of the SEC Tournament for the sixth consecutive season.
Under Ladner's tutelage, Rebel guard Bianca Thomas became an All-SEC first team selection after ranking fourth in the league with 15.8 points per game. Thomas scored 20 or more points nine times during the season and set the school record for the most three-pointers in a season with 73. It was the second straight year in which Ladner had produced an All-SEC performer, as former Rebel great Shawn Goff earned the distinction in 2007-08.
In her six years as either an assistant coach or head coach at Ole Miss, Ladner has helped land at least one player on either the All-SEC first or second team.
Ladner and the Rebels open the 2009-10 season Thursday night at 7 p.m. when Ole Miss hosts Christian Brothers in an exhibition game from Tad Smith Coliseum. Admission to the game is free.
