Rebels Breeze Past Winston-Salem State 101-46

OXFORD, Miss. - Whitney Hameth and Shantell Black scored a game-high 14 points and Ole Miss reached 100 points for the first time since 2006 as the Rebels cruised to a 101-46 victory over Winston-Salem State Sunday afternoon from Tad Smith Coliseum.

Black was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and tied her career-high with four three-pointers to go along with four assists. She has scored in double figures in five straight games and is averaging 14.6 points per game during that span.

Kayla Melson finished with 12 points and dished out six of Ole Miss' 31 assists to help tie for the third-most assists in a game in school history. All-SEC guard Bianca Thomas also tallied 12 points and hit a pair of three-pointers.

Senior forward Katorra Lewis and sophomore post Nikki Byrd each added 10 points apiece to help the Rebels hold a 42-10 edge in points in the paint.

Sophomore guard LaTosha Laws poured in a career-high 10 points and a career-high five rebounds, and freshman Courtney Marbra scored a career-high seven points, pulled down a career-high six rebounds and dished out a career-high four assists. The duo helped the Ole Miss bench outscore the Lady Rams 50-7.

Winston-Salem State (2-8) center Vontisha Woods paced the Lady Rams with 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Ole Miss (8-4) and Winston-Salem State battled back-and-forth for the first four minutes of the game before the Rebels used a 35-7 run to turn a two-point edge into a 30-point lead with just over five minutes remaining in the first half.

The Rebels shot 65.5 percent in the first half on 21-of-32 shooting and limited the Lady Rams to just six field goals and held a 64-20 lead at halftime. The 64 points tied the second-highest scoring output for a half in school history, falling just five points shy of setting a new school record.

Ole Miss continued its hot shooting in the second half and hit 53.8 percent of its shots to finish the contest at 60.3 percent from the field, marking the second-highest single game shooting percentage in school history.

The Rebels went on to lead by as many as 57 points in the second half and won the by the sixth-highest margin of victory in school history.

Ole Miss returns to action Dec. 29 when the Rebels host Centenary at 4:30 p.m. from Tad Smith Coliseum in the final game before conference play.
