OXFORD, Miss. The No. 9 nationally ranked Ole Miss men’s tennis team heads to Waco, Texas this week to face 32nd-ranked TCU and 10th-ranked Baylor. Both matches will be played at the Baylor Tennis Center and will be the first outdoor matches of the season for the Rebels.

First up, the Rebels will face TCU Thursday at 1 p.m., followed by Baylor Friday at 3 p.m.

In their last action, Ole Miss went 2-1 at the ITA National Team Indoor, defeating 16th-ranked Florida State and then seventh-ranked Florida by a score of 4-1.  The Rebels boast four players in the latest ITA National Rankings, including senior Jonas Berg, who is ranked No. 39 with a 5-0 dual match record.  Junior Kalle Norberg is ranked No. 32 with a 4-1 record at No. 3 singles.

Last week’s SEC Freshman of the Week, Devin Britton, looks to keep the momentum going after clinching both wins at the National Team Indoor to improve to 3-3 in dual matches.

“These will be two tough matches for us,” head coach Billy Chadwick said.  “TCU has played a tough schedule, and Baylor will provide a tough test.  This week will definitely help us get ready for the start of conference play.”

TCU comes into the match at 2-5 on the season. In their last action, they knocked off then 17th-ranked Tulsa before falling to top 20 Oklahoma State 5-2.   The match against Ole Miss will mark the eighth nationally-ranked opponent the Horned Frogs have faced this season.   TCU is led by sophomore Emanuel Brighiu, who is ranked No. 68 in the nation with a 2-4 record at No. 1 singles.

On Friday, the Rebels will face their third top 10 opponent of the season in Baylor.  This past weekend, the Bears defeated then No. 6 UCLA 4-3 to give their coach, Matt Knoll, his 300th career win.  The Bears are led by junior All-American Denes Lukacs, who is ranked No. 10 in the nation.  He is 5-2 at No. 1 singles.  Sophomore Jordan Rux is ranked No. 38 with a 5-4 record at No. 2 singles.
