3/31/2009 | Men's Tennis

OXFORD, Miss. The Ole Miss men’s tennis team remained at No. 2 in this week’s Campbell/ITA National Rankings, but they inched closer to No. 1 Virginia, trailing the Cavaliers by a little more than four points.

The rest of the top 10 includes Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio State, Southern California, Baylor, Stanford, UCLA and Florida.  The SEC leads the nation with seven teams in the top 20.

In the latest individual rankings released Tuesday, senior Jonas Bergs is ranked No. 23 in the nation.  He clinched the win over Florida last weekend and is 5-3 at No. 1 singles.

Freshman Devin Britton moved up to No. 29 with a 6-2 record at No. 2 singles.  He won a big match against Florida, setting up Berg’s clinching victory.  Britton is 4-2 in the SEC.

Junior Kalle Norberg is ranked No. 37 with a team-leading 12-1 dual match record, 4-0 in the SEC.

Bram ten Berge is ranked No. 122 in singles and he and Berg are still ranked No. 2 in doubles with a 12-5 record at No. 1.

The Rebels host No. 13 Kentucky Friday at 4 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.  Fans will receive free chicken compliments of Bofields.
