Joe David Ready For Tennessee State Am

8/3/2009 | Men's Golf

OXFORD, Miss. - Rising sophomore Ole Miss men's golfer Joe David will begin competing in the Tennessee State Amateur Tuesday at the Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The Madison, Tenn., native just missed out on winning the Tennessee State Amateur last year, losing in the first hole of sudden death to UTC junior Derek Rende, at the Ridgeway Country Club in Memphis. David missed a four-footer on the par-5 18th that would have won him the tournament. The two went back to the 18th, where David missed his birdie putt from 12 feet, and Rende made his for the win.

David enjoyed a successful first year at Ole Miss, earning All-SEC second team honors and helping lead the Rebels to their third consecutive NCAA appearance.

He tees off at 8:10 a.m. CT., from the 10th hole. Check out www.OleMissSports.com for updates throughout the week.
