TULSA, Okla. - The Ole Miss men's tennis team concluded play at the D'Novo ITA All-American Championships Friday as Marcel Thiemann lost in the third round of singles and Tucker Vorster and Jonas Lutjen fell to the top seed in the second round of doubles.
Thiemann faced the defending NCAA Champion, Bradley Klahn (Stanford), for the second time in less than a year. The two first met in the quarterfinals at last year's NCAA Championships, with Klahn rallying for a three-set win. This time, he would need only two sets, but Thiemann did not go down without a fight.
The Lehrte, Germany native gained a break to go up 4-3, but Klahn would break back and ultimately the first set would go to a tiebreaker. Klahn held on to win that 7-5 and then claimed the second set 6-4.
In the doubles, Vorster and Lutjen played the top seeds, Reid Carleton and Henrique Cunha down to the wire, before falling 8-6. They were tied up at 6-6 before the Duke tandem broke Vorster's serve and held for the win.
