RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Barnabas Kirui claimed victory and the Ole Miss men and women both finished second in the 2010 cross country season debut at the Arkansas Tech Twilight Run Friday.

Kirui, a 2009 All-American and the defending SEC Cross Country Champion, finished the four-mile race with a winning time of 19:39.77. Martin Kirui came in third place with a time of 20:14.71. Kip Kiptoo was the next Rebel finisher in ninth place overall at 20:37.69. Max Holman (13th, 21:04.27) and Riley Young (15th, 21:09.39) were also among the field's top 15 finishers.

With 41 points, Ole Miss came in second in the men's race behind UALR with 26 points. Arkansas State (87 points) was third in the field of six.

On the women's side, Ole Miss came in second in the two-mile race with a team score of 46 points behind Arkansas State's winning total of 37 points. Host Arkansas Tech finished third with 61 points.

Logan Waites earned a second-place finish with her time of 11:25.44, just seven seconds behind winner Kristina Aubert of Arkansas State. Other top-15 finishers for the Rebels were Kayleigh Skinner (8th, 11:59.98), Anne Threlkeld (9th, 12:02.91), Allison Kneip (12th, 12:06.71) and Elise Leurs (15th, 12:17.33).
