Lynn Pitches Perfect Eighth, Helps Cardinals Claim World Series

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Right-hander Lance Lynn pitched a perfect eighth inning with one strikeout to help the St. Louis Cardinals claim the 107th World Series with a 6-2 win in game seven on Friday night.
Lynn appeared in five of the seven games played in the series, picking up the win in the third game.
In game three, he pitched 2.1 innings and allowed one run on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts. The rookie reliever entered the game in the fifth inning with the Cardinals leading 8-4 and two men on base and kept St. Louis in the lead before leaving the game in the seventh inning.
The former Rebel made his MLB debut on June 2, drawing the start in his first appearance as he faced the San Francisco Giants.
For the regular season, Lynn was 1-1 with a 3.12 ERA as he made 18 appearances and drew two starts. He also posted a save as he worked 34.2 innings. Lynn held opponents to a .203 batting average against as he allowed only 12 runs on 25 hits with 11 walks and 40 strikeouts in his time on the mound.
