Ole Miss Drops Series Opener to No. 5 Alabama

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss defense committed four errors as No. 5 Alabama downed the Rebels 8-0 in five innings on Friday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.
Alabama grabbed a 4-0 lead in the top of the first highlighted by a three-run home run courtesy of designated player Whitney Larsen. The Tide added another run in the third thanks to a single to left by second baseman Kalia Hunt and a fielding error by Ole Miss left fielder Brittany Broome.
The Tide added three more runs in the fifth highlighted by a two-run double to right center from third baseman Courtney Conley, who was thrown out at third by Ole Miss center fielder RT Cantillo trying to stretch her double into a triple.
Junior Kendall Bruning started for the Rebels and took the loss after allowing eight runs, five earned, on nine hits in 4.0 innings of work. She struck out four and walked three. Lindsey Perry entered in relief in the fifth and pitched the final inning. She allowed just one hit.
The Rebels and the Crimson Tide will continue their three-game series tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.
