OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss men's tennis head coach Billy Chadwick has been looking forward to the 2012 season since last year and with good reason. The Rebels boast a talented lineup that he says has an opportunity to put Ole Miss back in the thick of the SEC race and the national spotlight.

Chadwick will get an opportunity to see where his players rank among the elite as the team heads to Lexington, Ky., this weekend for the SEC Indoor Championships, which is regarded as one of the top individual tournaments in the nation featuring almost all the teams in the league.

The four-day event begins Friday morning with doubles followed by singles and concludes Jan. 16 with the finals.

"This is perhaps the top individual tournament during the spring outside of the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships," Chadwick said. "It gives us a great opportunity to see where we are and what we need to work on as we get ready for the team dual matches."

Senior Marcel Thiemann and freshman Nik Scholtz are both seeded in the singles. They will be joined by senior Chris Thiemann, juniors Jonas Lutjen and Adrian Forberg Skogeng, sophomore Johan Backstrom and freshmen William Kallberg and Joe Rogers.

Marcel , a two-time All-American, is ranked No. 27 in the nation. Scholtz began the fall ranked No. 5 in the newcomer rankings.
