OXFORD, Miss. - As they transition to the outdoor portion of the season, the Ole Miss men's tennis team steps outside of collegiate play this weekend to compete in the USTA Futures event at the Brownsville Tennis Center in Brownsville, Texas.

Qualifying singles begins Saturday, while main draw singles and doubles action starts Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Seniors Marcel Thiemann and Chris Thiemann along with juniors Jonas Lutjen and Adrian Forberg Skogeng, sophomore Johan Backstrom and freshmen William Kallberg and Nik Scholtz are competing in the event.

"We are looking forward to getting in some outdoor tennis matches as we prepare for Memphis and then the start of conference play in a couple of weeks," head coach Billy Chadwick said.

The Rebels will host Memphis Feb. 28 in their first home match in a month. The 2 p.m. match will be played at the newly renovated Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
