OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss women's basketball head coach Adrian Wiggins has added the fifth and final player to his 2012-13 class with the addition of freshman guard Destini Price.
Price, a 6-0 combo guard from Lancaster, Calif., attended Antelope Valley High School. She is ranked as the 45-best wing in the nation and a four-star guard by ESPN HoopGurlz.
"We could not be more proud," Wiggins said. "Destini is an accomplished three-point shooter with the ability to put the ball on the floor as well. Her size and versatility at a guard position gives her options many players are lacking. We have been following Destini for some time and feel like she and her family will be great additions to our program. As the daughter of a former collegiate basketball player (and current high school coach) and track star, Destini has a strong competitive nature and knows what it takes to win. She will immediately look to make an impact here at Ole Miss."
As a senior, Price averaged 18 points and 6.8 rebounds per game and was named to the All-CIF girls basketball Division 3AA first team. As a junior, she averaged 13.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and two assists per game and earned Second Team All-Section honors.
During her senior season, Price led her team to an 18-8 overall mark and a 14-0 record in league play. As a junior, she led her team to a 24-6 overall record and a perfect 14-0 league mark.
Price will join four other Ole Miss newcomers for the 2012-13 season including guard Melissa Sweat (Bakersfield, Calif./San Diego State University), forward Sha'Kayla Caples (Vicksburg, Miss./Trinity Valley Community College/), guard Brandy Broome (Natchitoches, La./Pensacola (Fla.) State College) and point guard Diara Moore (Cedar Hill, Texas/Independence (Kan.) Community College/University of Kansas).
