Rebel Netters Advance At ITA All-American

TULSA,Okla. - Two members of the Ole Miss men's tennis team advanced to the third round of prequalifying at the ITA All-American Championships here Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

After a first round bye, senior Adrian Forberg Skogeng downed Purdue's Arthur Dobradin 6-2, 6-2 to advance to a third round meeting against Joseph Cohen of Eastern Washington University. The two will meet at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Junior Johan Backstrom also moved into the third round with a three-set win over Arizona's Sumeet Shinde. After dropping the first set 7-5, Backstrom won the next two 6-3, 6-0. He will face Carlos Lopez-Villa of Old Dominion Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

Players must win two matches Sunday to advance to the qualifying tournament, which begins Monday.

The other two Rebels competing in the prequalifying did not advance. Oxford native Zach Wilder had a first round bye before losing to Albert Ochagavia of ODU 6-3, 6-3. Stefan Lindmark fell in the first round to Alexander Golding (Pacific) 7-6, 1-6, 7-5.
