Ole Miss closes its season-opening home stand when it welcomes Missouri State to Oxford and Tad Smith Coliseum on Thursday night. The game tips off at 6 p.m. and fans can catch it on SEC Network+ with Richard Cross and Armintie Price Herrington on the call.

Starting Five

  • 1. Ole Miss dropped its first game of the season with an 82-78 loss to UL-Lafayette on Sunday night at Tad Smith Coliseum. Ole Miss mounted a comeback behind eight fourth-quarter triples including five from freshman Torri Lewis, but couldn't complete the comeback falling to the Ragin' Cajuns.
  • Freshman Torri Lewis had the hot hand late against UL-Lafayette. The Olive Branch, Miss., native tallied a career-best 20 -points behind 6-of-7 shooting from long range. Lewis scored 17 of her 20 in the fourth quarter and her six triples were one shy of tying the freshman record for 3-PT FGs.
  • Junior Bretta Hart nabbed a career-high 19 rebounds against UL-Lafayette. It was her second career game of double-figure rebounds and the first since nabbing 10 as a freshman against Austin Peay. Her 19 boards are the most since Tia Faleru had 19 against Southern on Nov. 20, 2014.
  • Three of Ole Miss' five-member freshman class have reached double figures through Ole Miss first two games. Alissa Alston had 12 points in her debut - the most for a rookie in their debut since A'Queen Hayes had 10 in her debut last season. Torri Lewis (20 pts) and Madinah Muhammad (14 pts) have also reached double digits.
  • Ole Miss is one of the youngest teams in the SEC with no seniors and just two players who have been in the program more than two years in Bretta Hart and Shequila Joseph. Of its 13 players, nine are freshmen or sophomores. Although some of the sophomores got quite a it of experience with Kelsey Briggs, A'Queen Hayes and Shandricka Sessom each playing in over 30 games last season.

Ole Miss vs. Missouri State Notables
-This will be the first ever meeting between Ole Miss and Missouri State. Although, Missouri State's head coach Kelli Harper is very familiar with the SEC as she played as Kelli Jolly at Tennessee were she won several national championships.

-Ole Miss is the second of three SEC schools the Bears will face this year. Missouri State played Missouri is it's opener on Nov. 13 and will take on Arkansas as well. Additionally, both teams will take on Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

-Missouri is 5-2 against teams from the Missouri Valley Conference and will be taking on its first opponent from the Missouri Valley since facing Wichita State in 2000.

A Win Would
-Give Ole Miss it's first-ever win in the series against Missouri State and its first win over a Missouri Valley team since a 68-62 win over Wichita State in the Long Beach Classic in Long Beach, Fla.

-Move the Rebels 14 wins way from the 800th victory in program history. Ole Miss' current record is 785-474. The earliest Ole Miss could hit the 800th win would be on Jan. 14 at Texas A&M.

Rebels By The Numbers

0- Number of seniors on the Ole Miss roster. Ole Miss will be led by a quartet of juniors in Bretta Hart, Shequila Joseph, Precious Person and Erika Sisk.

6- Number of triples freshman Torri Lewis had against UL-Lafayette just one shy of the freshman record for three-pointers set by Shae Nelson in 2011. Additionally it was two shy of the Tad Smith record for three-pointers set by Gracie Frizzell last season.

19- Number of rebounds Bretta Hart had against UL-Lafayette. Hart, who entered the season averaging 2.1 rebounds per game, is averaging 13.0 rebounds per game through the first two games.

20- Number of points Torri Lewis scored against UL-Lafayette. Lewis scored 17 of her 20 points in the fourth quarter and 18 of her points came from the three point line.

282- Number of points Erika Sisk needs to hit the 1,000-point milestone. The Oxford native has scored over 300 points in each of her two collegiate seasons and seems poised to become Ole Miss' 27th 1,000- point scorer in school history.

Scouting Missouri State
Missouri State enters Thursday's game with a 1-1 record after an 88-61 win over MidAmerica Nazarene on Tuesday night. The Bears are led by Kenzie Williams who is averaging 11.5 points per game. Liza Freundt joins her in double figures with 11.0 points per game. In total, the Bears have five players averaging at least 7.0 points per game. Tyonna Snow leads the rebounding efforts with 6.0 rebounds per game. Against MidAmerican Nazarene, the Bears had three in double figures, led by 14 points from Williams and Snow. The Bears lost their opener on Nov. 13 to fellow SEC member Missouri, 71-55. Fruendt lead the way against the Tigers with 13 points off the bench.

About Ole Miss
Sophomore Shandricka Sessom leads the Rebels offense averaging 18.0 points per game and has reached double figures in each game this season. Freshmen Torri Lewis and Madinah Muhammad are also in double figures with 12.0 and 11.0 points per game, respectively. Rounding out Ole Miss' double-digit scorers is Oxford native Erika Sisk who is averaging 10.5 points per game. Junior Bretta Hart is leading the rebounding efforts with 13.0 rebounds per game, while freshmen Jonell Williams and Cecilia Muhate Pena are adding 9.0 and 6.0 rebounds, respectively. As a team, Ole Miss is averaging 87.5 points per game and grabbing 51.0 rebounds per game. Ole Miss has played its best basketball late this season and is averaging 57.5 points in the third and fourth quarters, while holding opponents to just 34 points in the final two quarters.
