Rebels, Gamble Earn GCAA Academic Awards

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss men's golf junior Forrest Gamble has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America, while the Rebels earned the GCAA All-Academic team honor the organization announced Wednesday.
Gamble, the 2015 SEC Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, holds a prefect 4.0 GPA in physics with a minor in mathematics and plans to attend medical school after graduation. The Birmingham, Alabama native also earned second-team Capital One/CoSIDA All-America honors earlier this season.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
As a team, the Rebels posted a combined 3.25 GPA for the 2014-15 academic year and also earned the Chancellor's Cup for the highest team GPA among all Ole Miss sports team in January. To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
