MLK Rewind...
The Rebels had a successful start to the 2016 season, tallying 15 wins and taking home the doubles title at the MLK Invitational this past weekend in Atlanta. The tournament included players from No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 7 Georgia and No. 43 Georgia Tech. Sophomore Zvonimir Babic and freshman Filip Kraljevic won the doubles title with a 3-0 record, including a win against the nation's No. 10 ranked team from Georgia. Stefan Lindmark went 2-1 in singles as did Gustav Hansson.
Scouting Troy...
Troy enters Tuesday's match at 0-2 after dropping a pair of ranked matches last weekend on the road at No. 36 Louisville and No. 24 Florida. The Trojans are led by senior Daniel Bustamante, who played No. 1 singles in both matches.
A Year Ago vs. Troy...
Ole Miss defeated Troy 4-3 last year in Oxford. The Rebels won the doubles point and then picked up straight set wins from Nik Scholtz, Stefan Lindmark and William Kallberg at the top three singles to make it 4-0 before Troy ever got on the board.
Quoting Head Coach Toby Hansson...
"We had a great weekend, and we are excited to be back home and showcase the team to our fans. I feel certain Rebel fans are going to enjoy watching these guys compete, because they are a fun group to coach and they bring a lot of energy on the court. If you're headed to the men's basketball game, drop by the Gillom Sports Center first and catch some tennis before heading to the Pavilion."
Next up...
The Troy match will mark the final tune-up before the Rebels head to Texas for the ITA Kickoff Weekend where they will face Texas Tech in the first round and either Florida or host Texas in the second round. The winner of both matches advances to the ITA National Team Indoor in February.
