Women's Basketball Opens 2016-17 Season

OXFORD, Miss. â€" Fresh off a football win over Memphis, which saw senior Bretta Hart (Poplarville, Miss.) honored as senior maid, the Ole Miss women's basketball team and head coach Matt Insell officially opened the 2016-17 season with the first official practice on Sunday afternoon at the Tuohy Basketball Center.
The Rebels practiced as a full team for about two and a half hours working on all aspects of the game in preparation for the start of the 2016-17 season, which opens on Nov. 13 when Ole Miss hosts Southeastern Louisiana at The Pavilion at Ole Miss at 2:30 pm.
Sunday's practice also marked the first fall team practice for Ole Miss freshmen Shelby Gibson (Murfreesboro, Ten.), Bree Glover (Glasgow, Ky.), Kate Rodgers (Birmingham, Ala.) as well as transfers Taylor Manuel (St. Louis, Mo. /Loyola Chicago) and Chrishae Rowe (Riverside, Calif./Kentucky). Ole Miss returns fours starters from the 2015-16 squad including leading scorer junior Shandricka Sessom (Byhalia, Miss.) who led the team with 15.6 points per game.
