Gamble Earns Academic All-District Honors

OXFORD, Miss. -- Senior Ole Miss men's golfer Forrest Gamble was named to the Capital One/CoSIDA At-Large Academic All-District team announcedThursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Gamble is now eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America Team, which will be announced in early June.
The 2016 SEC Boyd H. McWhorter Scholar-Athlete of the year, Gamble holds a 3.97 GPA in physics and plans to attend medical school after graduation. The senior has been named to the Chancellor's and SEC Academic Honor Rolls and is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Omnicron Delta Kappa honor societies.
A Birmingham, Alabama native, Gamble was inducted into the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges and participated in the Chancellor's Leadership class. Gamble was also selected to the SEC Community Service team for his work in the community.
This marks the second-consecutive year Gamble has earned Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District honors and he was also named to the second-team Academic All-America team last year. The at-large teams for the Capital One Academic All-America program include the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis and water polo for men and women, as well as bowling, crew and field hockey for women, and volleyball and wrestling for men.
To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, student-athletes must hold a 3.3 grade point average or higher and must be in their second year at the nominating institution. Student-athletes must also have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the time of nomination.
