Throughout the summer, OleMissSports.com will take some time to introduce the newest members of the Ole Miss women's basketball team. First up, freshman forward Kate Rodgers from Birmingham, Alabama.

OleMissSports: What was the most appealing thing that bought you to Ole Miss?
KR: When I visited, they had everything lined up, everything was in place for me to be successful. They had the academic part and they really enforced that. Here you are going to get the schoolwork and you are going to play. It was just a great atmosphere.

OleMissSports: What was the most surprising thing to you about Ole Miss?
KR: When I got here, I didn't think it was going to be as nice as it is. I knew the campus was nice, but it's REALLY nice.

OleMissSports.com: How far away is your hometown from here?
KR: I'm from Birmingham, Alabama and it's nothing but two and a half hours away. I wanted to get away from home and see the world.

OleMissSports: What is the biggest adjustment you have had to make while being here so far?
KR: Time management! There is only so much time and if you don't manage it right, you know, it will be bad.

OleMissSports: What is one thing you miss from home?
KR: My mom. My mom and I are really close. I call her everyday. We don't get to talk a lot, but when I do call her it's always goggly eyes and I miss you. She's always like, 'Well do you want me to come and get you?' and I'm like, 'No stay where you at, I'll be there soon, just hold on.'

OleMissSports: What's the most inspiring thing your siblings have said to you?
KR: That they want to be like me one day, it kind of made me tear up a little bit!

OleMissSports: What is your favorite thing about Mississippi?
KR: I'm just really glad that it's not cold. I'm from Alabama and it's hot there, but here it's like ten times hotter and I can deal with heat, but being cold, I can't deal with being cold.

OleMissSports: What is most different about here to home?
KR: I'd say the people. The people here are really positive and they definitely have hospitality.

OleMissSports: What made you get into basketball?
KR: I started playing when I was 4. It was really just something to do. They said I was really good and said I could probably play high school basketball and then I got to high school and said you're really good, you could play in college. I have always loved the game and it's something I've always done.
