Rebels Set to Begin NCAA Individual Championships

OXFORD, Miss.
â€" Ole Miss will be represented in the NCAA Individual Championships with Gustav Hansson competing in singles and Fabian Fallert and Grey Hamilton participating in the doubles. Action begins Wednesday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia.

Hansson, ranked No. 23 nationally, will be making his second consecutive appearance in the singles and will face No. 24 ranked Spencer Papa of Oklahoma in the first round, Wednesday at 10 a.m. CT.

Fallert and Hamilton are competing in the NCAA Doubles Championship for the first time and will go up against Mason Dragos and Mikheil Khmiadashvili of Butler in the first round, Thursday. Times for the doubles will be announced Wednesday.

At the net with Hansson...
• Hansson earned his second straight NCAA singles bid with a ranking of No. 23 in the nation and a 20-12 overall record
• In 2016, Hansson reached the round of 16 with wins over Brayden Schnur (North Carolina) and Tom Fawcett (Stanford) and became the 29th All-American in program history
• Hansson earned All-SEC honors for the third straight year and made the first team for the second year in a row
• Hansson owns nine ranked wins this year, including three against top-25 opponents

Hansson vs. Papa…
• This will mark the first ever meeting between the two players, who are both juniors
• Papa comes in with a 19-14 record and has four wins over top-25 opponents
• The first-round match will feature the 2016 ITA Southern Region Player to Watch, Hansson, and this year's ITA Central Regional Player to Watch, Papa

At the net with Fallert/Hamilton…
• Fallert and Hamilton are making their first NCAA appearance with a ranking of No. 19 in the nation and a 16-11 overall record
• The Rebel duo has posted six ranked wins while playing every dual match at No. 1 doubles
• Fallert and Hamilton kick-started their year by winning the ITA Southern Regional Championship in the
fall and qualifying for the National Indoor
• Fallert earned All-SEC Second Team honors with a 10-1 singles record in the SEC, which tied for the second best record in league play

Fallert and Hamilton vs. Dragos/Khmiadashvili…
• This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams
• Dragos/Khmiadashvili are ranked No. 60 in the nation with a 12-3 record, including 8-2 at No. 1
doubles
• This is believed to be the first Butler singles or doubles selection to the championships
