Ole Miss' Season Comes to a Close in Regional Final

TEMPE, Ariz. - A big first inning and some costly mistakes were the downfall for Ole Miss in Sunday night's Tempe Regional Final as Arizona State defeated Ole Miss 9-0 to end the Rebels' 2018 season.
Kaitlin Lee made the start for the Rebels, taking the loss after surrendering five runs on six hits in 0.1 innings. Ava Tillmann came on in relief for 2.2 frames, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits, while Brittany Finney came on for the fourth and tossed a perfect inning with three strikeouts.
The Sun Devils put up a big number early to seize control. ASU utilized some small ball with a number of bunts and aggressive baserunning, in addition to a three-run home run to hang a five on the board.
After a double play got Ole Miss out of some trouble in the second, Arizona State took advantage of a pair of Rebel errors in the field to plate four runs, extending their lead to 9-0 after three.
From there the Sun Devils were able to hold the Rebels at bay and close out the game to advance to the Super Regional round.
The Rebels finish the season 32-25, advancing to an NCAA Regional Final for the third year in a row, the first three trips to the NCAA Tournament in the program's history.
