BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Ole Miss track & field closed out the Indiana Relays in strong fashion, winning four event titles and setting numerous NCAA top-10 times or marks at Gladstein Fieldhouse on Saturday.

The Rebel men's distance runners picked up right where they left off after Friday night's NCAA No. 2 time in the distance medley relay. Sophomore Waleed Suliman, who ran the 800-meter leg on last night's DMR, won the men's mile today at 4:01.00 in his first mile race of the season. His time currently ranks No. 6 on the NCAA list. Last year, Suliman came very close to breaking the four-minute barrier in the mile, running 4:00.90 at the Iowa State Classic on Feb. 10.

Freshman Mario Garcia Romo put together an impressive mile open as well, finishing fourth overall at 4:03.52. He already ranks as the ninth-fastest miler in Rebel history, and he currently sits at No. 15 on the NCAA list. Both Suliman and Garcia Romo were All-SEC members of the Rebel men's SEC Cross Country Championship winning team this past fall.

Senior Derek Gutierrez, already the owner of the eighth-fastest mile time in Rebel history, decided to move up the school 3K list today instead. Gutierrez finished fifth overall in a stacked field, running 7:57.78 to become just the fourth Rebel to ever run a sub-8:00 race in the 3K. All five of the top-five times in today's 3K currently rank in the NCAA top-five.

Sophomore John Rivera Jr. had another solid outing in the men's 800-meter, finishing runner-up at a PR of 1:50.11, pushing him to No. 10 all-time at Ole Miss and improving on his place at No. 4 in the NCAA.

On the women's side, it was sophomore Clio Ozanne-Jaques coming away with a distance title, winning the women's edition of the 3K at a 13-second PR of 9:37.24. That puts her up to seventh all-time at Ole Miss and No. 29 on the current NCAA list.

Junior Kieshonna Brooks wasted no time in her first pentathlon of the season, winning at a 150-point PR score of 3,792 points. That moved her up to No. 5 all-time at Ole Miss and No. 10 in the NCAA. Brooks had a strong day all around, winning the pentathlon 60-meter hurdles at the fastest time ever run by a Rebel pentathlete at 8.48 (one-hundredth off her overall PR of 8.47). She followed that up with a PR in the high jump (fifth, 1.56m/5-01.25), a season-best in the shot put (sixth, 9.80m/32-02.00), the longest mark ever by a Rebel pentathlete in the long jump (first, 6.16m/20-02.50) and another PR in the 800-meter to close (seventh, 2:32.06).

Sophomore Ghania Warren finished seventh at a PR 3,328 points (12th all-time), while junior Haley Hood took 10th at 2,868. Warren was the runner-up in two events, recording bests in the high jump (1.68m/5-06.00; 15th all-time, third-best by a pentathlete) and long jump (5.65m/18-06.50).

Ole Miss also received another men's win on the track courtesy of junior transfer James Burnett in the 400-meter dash. Burnett, the NJCAA 400-meter runner-up last year while at Meridian Community College, ran 48.20 to win in his first 400-meter race as a Rebel. Fellow junior Alvin Westbrook finished right behind him in second place at a season-best 48.75.

Both were also members of the Rebel men's 4x400-meter relay team that finished second overall. Westbrook, Elijah Dryer, Kenney Broadnax and Burnett ran 3:16.10.

Dryer was one of three Rebel men to run in the 60-meter dash final today as well. Junior Andrew Raspo was the top finisher in second place at 6.86, while freshman Jaqaun Webb took third at a PR of 6.89 (6.882) and Dryer fourth at 6.89 (6.884).

Three Rebel women also placed in the 60-meter dash finals, with Brandee Presley leading the way in third (7.60), followed by sophomore T'Aja Cameron (fourth, 7.62) and freshman Kelly Rowe (sixth, 7.64).

Additionally, Ole Miss received two top-five finishes in the 60-meter hurdles finals, with junior Jeanette Paul taking third in the women's final at 8.71, while freshman Kenney Broadnax took fourth in the men's final at 8.43.

Other notable finishes on the track included two top-10 placements in the women's mile by sophomores Maddie King (fourth, 4:53.00; PR, 11th all-time) and Ylvi Traxler (ninth, 4:56.47; PR, 14th all-time).

In the women's shot put, freshman Tedreauna Britt had a big day as well, recording nearly a two-foot PR to finish fifth overall at 14.87m (48-09.50) to move up to fifth all-time at Ole Miss. Sophomore Leah Klein also made the shot put final, finishing ninth at a career-best 13.90m (45-07.25) to place her eighth all-time.

Ole Miss will split squads for the first time this indoor season next week, with a contingent heading out west to the Texas Tech Shootout, while the remainder head north to Southern Illinois for the Don DeNoon Classic, both running from February 1-2.
