2020 Rebel Slate Features 32 Games vs. 2019 NCAA Tournament Teams
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss baseball announced its 2020 schedule Tuesday, which features 32 games against teams that qualified for the 2019 NCAA Tournament and 16 against teams that advanced to last year's College World Series.
Opening weekend at Swayze Field will be a big one, as the Rebels will host 2019 College World Series qualifier Louisville for a three-game set (Feb. 14-16). That series will be the first of eight straight games at home to start the season, concluding with the first of two games against Southern Miss (Feb. 25). The Golden Eagles are one of eight teams the Rebels will face that won 40 or more games in 2019.
After that key early midweek matchup, the Rebels will hit the road for the first time for the Keith LeClair Classic (Feb. 28-Mar. 1), hosted by ECU. Ole Miss will take on High Point, ECU and Indiana over the weekend in Greenville, North Carolina. ECU is one of seven teams on the Rebel schedule who made the Super Regionals last season, while Indiana is one of 12 NCAA Tournament qualifiers on the 2020 slate.
Following the tournament action at ECU, Ole Miss welcomes Memphis for a midweek (Mar. 3) and hosts Princeton for its final non-conference weekend series (Mar. 6-8).
Then it's an all-Louisiana week as the Rebels will head to Monroe for a two-game midweek series at ULM (Mar. 10-11) before returning to Oxford to host LSU for their Southeastern Conference opener (Mar. 13-15).
After a two-game midweek set against UT Martin and Murray State (Mar. 17-18), Ole Miss' first SEC road series will follow as the Rebels head to College Station to take on Texas A&M (Mar. 20-22).
The conference slate continues when Arkansas comes to Oxford (Mar. 27-29). The Rebels and Razorbacks met eight times last season— a regular-season series win for Ole Miss in Fayetteville, a two-game split in the SEC Tournament and a series win for the Razorbacks in the Fayetteville Super Regional.
Ole Miss will meet Southern Miss in Pearl (Mar. 31) for the second of two 2020 meetings between the in-state rivals. The Rebels then return home for a three-game set against South Carolina (Apr. 3-5).
The SEC slate only grows more difficult from there, as Ole Miss will head to Starkville for a series at Mississippi State (Apr. 9-11) before returning home to host defending national champion Vanderbilt (Apr. 17-19). Next, the Rebels and Bulldogs will meet once again for a non-conference matchup in Pearl for the Governor's Cup (Apr. 21).
A long stretch away from Swayze follows as Ole Miss will take on a pair of SEC East powers on the road at Florida (Apr. 24-26) and Georgia (May 1-3). The Rebels then return home to host Auburn for senior weekend (May 8-10). That series will be the Rebels' fifth against 2019 College World Series teams.
Ole Miss will close its 2020 regular season in Tuscaloosa with a three-game series at Alabama (May 14-16). The Rebels will then return to Hoover, Alabama, where they will look for a third-straight trip to the SEC Tournament title game (May 19-24).
The Rebels sent eight players off to the professional ranks in the 2019 MLB Draft but still return a strong nucleus of veterans going into 2020, including a pair of freshman All-Americans in Doug Nikhazy and Kevin Graham, as well as the 2019 College Home Run Derby runner-up, Tyler Keenan. Ole Miss will also add the No. 2 recruiting class in the nation to the mix as it looks to host an NCAA Regional for the fourth time in five seasons.
All game times and TV designations for the 2020 schedule will be announced at a later date.
Season tickets are on sale now at OleMissTix.com or by calling the Ole Miss Athletics Ticket Office at 1-888-REB-TKTS.
