Vrbenska and Janatova Won Three Matches Entering Monday

Baton Rouge, La. – An impressive stretch of tennis for the Ole Miss Women's Tennis duo of Anna Vrbenska and Tereza Janatova came to an end in the Doubles Semifinal of the ITA Southern Regional Championship inside the LSU Tennis Complex on Monday.

Rain forced matchups to be played indoors, where Vrbenska and Janatova dueled Auburn's Taylor Russo and Selin Ovunc. Both teams won three matches over the weekend to advance to Monday's semifinals.

In the opening stanza, the Tigers pair claimed the first two games, but the Rebels answered in the third to cut the deficit to 2-1. The momentum didn't last long as Russo and Ovunc rattled off the next four points to claim the first set, 6-1.

Ole Miss looked poised to tie the best-of-three match after taking a 4-1 lead in the second. However, Russo and Ovunc went on 5-0 run to close out the match for a 6-4 decision.

Vrbenska and Janatova wrap up the Rebels' competition at the regional, but could be back in action this weekend, as Ole Miss heads to Tuscaloosa for the Roberta Allison Invitational.
