Rebels Ready to Rematch Georgia Friday

RALLY POINTS

Ole Miss challenged No. 12 Florida last Friday, taking the Gators to five sets for the first time since 2009. The Rebel defense forced Florida into a season-high 33 attack errors, and held the Gator offense to a .208 hitting percentage, their fourth-lowest of the season.

The Rebels opened that contest on with an above .400 efficiency in the first set, their highest of conference play this season. The outside duo of Emily Stroup and Anna Bair combined for 26 kills.

Stroup finished the weekend with 28 kills, averaging 3.50 a set. She also tallied 25 digs in back-to-back double-double performances, her third and fourth consecutively. She ranks second in the league, behind Rebel setter Lauren Bars, with 13. Bars also tallied four-in-a-row after Friday's contest, where she dished out 37 assists and 13 digs.

Seniors Nayo Warnell and Nicole Purcell continue to have standout senior seasons. Warnell spent some of the season leading the league in hitting percentage, a statistic she ranks in the Top 20 nationally in. Purcell has lead the SEC all season in both digs and digs per set. Purcell has 75 more digs than the next-best in the league at 459, averaging nearly five digs a set at 4.68.

With five matches remaining in the regular season, the Rebels' schedule continues to show the strength of the Southeastern Conference. Ole Miss will face two Top 25 teams in No. 18 Kentucky and No. 25 Texas A&M, as well as Missouri who has spent the majority of 2019 in the Top 25. Georgia was also receiving votes this season. All four squads boast Top 50 RPI ratings. The Rebels continue to sit just outside that window, currently at No. 58.

CATURDAY
Friday marks OMVB's annual 'Caturday' celebration, where the first 250 fans in attendance will receive a cat-themed Hawaiian button-down shirt.

NUMBERS TO KNOW

5: Five Rebels rank in the Top 10 in the SEC individually, with two holding placement in more than one category in seniors Nayo Warnell and Emily Stroup. Classmate Nicole Purcell continues to lead the league in digs.

THE LAST MEETING
Georgia snapped the Rebels' seven-match road winning streak in late October, as the Bulldogs took down Ole Miss in Athens on a Wednesday night showdown in a clash of first-place squads. Purcell tied a career-high with 27 digs, the third-most in the rally scoring era for a four-set match in Ole Miss history. Sophomore Aubrey Sultemeier hit at a team-high .467 hitting percentage.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Georgia enters Friday on a 17-7 clip, posting a 9-4 ledger in league play. The Bulldogs are coming off a two-match skid, falling to No. 18 Kentucky and (RV) Missouri last weekend in Athens. Three-time Freshman of the Week Kacie Evans leads the squad with 290 kills, averaging 3.33 a set. Setter Meghan Donovan leads the league with 1,022 assists, and ranks second in the conference with 11.36 per set, ranking in the Top 20 in the country.
