However, both teams have an extremely close NCAA qualifying average based off of the top three scores in three locations (Ole Miss: 4671.67, Memphis: 4670.33). The Tigers need to record more than 4674 points to improve on their average, while Ole Miss needs higher than a 4665.
Both teams are 3-4 in GARC action this season. The winner of Saturday's match will finish fourth of nine teams in the league standings. Leading the Tigers are Leighton Dempster and Levi Clark. Dempster owns averages of 580.5 in smallbore and 592.6 in air rifle. Clark has averages of 580.4 and 588.5, respectively.
LAST MEETING…
Ole Miss outshot the Tigers 4650-4648 on Feb. 11, 2018 in Oxford. Just three points separated the teams in smallbore. The Tigers scored 2297 while the Rebels compiled 2294. Then-freshman Abby Buesseler led Ole Miss with a 581.
In air rifle, Ole Miss turned in a 2356, five points above Memphis' 2351. Then-rookie Kamilla Kisch turned in a 595 to power the Rebels. She broke her previous best by three points. The 595 has only been attained by three other shooters in school history.
MARSHA'S MINUTE…
On Memphis and short trip…
"We are very much looking forward to competing with Memphis. While Memphis is an away match, it is a day trip for us, which makes things easier."
On Memphis' range…
"Memphis opened their new facility just two years ago. They were able to install a range in an existing building on campus (I believe the space used to be an athlete dining hall). We were one of the first teams to compete at Memphis on the new facility. I understand they've made it even nicer, which we look forward to."
On key to success…
"Memphis is a strong team and they are having a good season. Our job will be to focus on what we've been working on in practice."
