No. 29 Tennessee Trips Up Women’s Tennis

Volunteers take down the Rebels, 4-0 on Sunday
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – No. 29 Tennessee downed the Ole Miss Women's Tennis team, 4-0 Sunday at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
Senior Tea Jandric's six-match winning streak came to an end, but junior Tereza Janatova's streak remains, as her match was unfinished at the time the Volunteers clinched.
Ole Miss slips to 6-7 on the year and 3-4 in league action.
The sixth-ranked ITA doubles pair of Saddie Hammond and Kaitlin Staines proved their ranking with a 6-2 defeat of sophomore Sabina Machalova and junior Alexa Bortles. The Vols (14-5, 4-3 SEC) claimed the doubles point soon after on Court 3.
Janatova grabbed the first set, 7-5, but the match ended unfinished in the second upon the Tennessee clinch.
Both Bortles and classmate Anna Vrbenska had unresolved matches. Vrbenska battled back to force a third set with a 6-1 decision in set two, while Bortles fell in a heartbreaking tiebreaker, 7-6 (6), and was locked up 3-3 in the second.
Tennessee won in two sets on Courts 1, 2 and 6.
