OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss Women's Tennis suffered a 4-2 defeat Friday, falling to Arkansas at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
The advantage fell in Arkansas' favor early. The Razorbacks picked up a quick 6-1 decision on Court 2, but the duos of sophomore Sabina Machalova and junior Alexa Bortles and juniors Tereza Janatova and Cameron Kriscunas both battling away on Courts 1 and 3.
Kriscunas and Janatova set up the point for their comrades on Court 1. Down 30-love, Machalova and Bortles were down 3-4 in the set, came back to even things at 4-4 and again at 5-5 to keep the doubles point on the line. The Hogs found resurgence, picking up the final two games to take the 1-0 match lead.
The Rebels' bright spots on the day came from senior Tea Jandric and junior Anna Vrbenska continued to dominate in SEC singles play this season. Both built the momentum and an advantage, picking up their opening sets.
