The junior earns second consecutive league plaudit

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --  On the brink of the 2019 NCAA Tournament Selection, Ole Miss Men's Tennis finds another element to celebrate, as junior Tim Sandkaulen was named to the All-Southeastern Conference Second Team, as announced by the league Thursday.

""I am so proud of Tim and what he continually brings to the court for us," head coach Toby Hansson said.  "He has been the anchor of our lineup all season and deserves to be recognized. He has worked hard and we are pleased the league also admires his talent and efforts."

Sandkaulen boasted the second-most wins for the Rebels this school year, but led during the spring with a 13-9 clip. Four of his five wins in SEC play have come against ranked foes, including taking down Alabama's Mazen Osama twice to help propel the Rebels to two of their three Top 20 upsets.

The Monchengladbach, Germany product has carried an ITA Singles Ranking most of the spring, and boasted a career-high No. 15 rating during the fall campaign. He's tallied two separate four-match win streaks this spring, and his set up victory over Arkansas propelled the Rebels to a win on Senior Day. Sandkaulen provided the clinch for the Rebels against LSU during the final weekend of SEC play, his fourth clincher of the season.

The award is the second of his career, after claiming First Team honors in 2018. He was also named to the 2019 SEC Community Service Team earlier this spring.

Sandkaulen and the Rebels will await their fate for the 2019 NCAA Tournament, announced Monday at 5 p.m. CT through an online selection show.
