Pair of Top-Five Finishes Lead Way for Rebels at Memphis Twilight

Sophomore Courtney Hopkins Took Third for the Rebel Women
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Ole Miss cross country began its 2019 season on a strong note after notching two runner-up team finishes with shortened men's and women's crews at the Memphis Twilight at Christian Brothers University on Saturday night.
The Rebel women took second to Alabama (47-58), while the Ole Miss men's squad finished behind Middle Tennessee (17-59).
Ole Miss placed four of its five women's runners within the top-10 of the women's 5K race, with sophomore Courtney Hopkins leading the way in third place overall at a career-best time of 17:51.93. Emma McClellan (seventh, 18:04.85, PR), Maddie McHugh (eighth, 18:13.89) and Morgan Claire Rose (10th, 18:16.33, PR) rounded out the top-10 for the Rebel women, while Cate Tracht finished 31st in 19:04.47 in her first collegiate race.
Junior Robinson Snider was the top finisher for the Rebel men, posting a career-best 20:01.95 in the four-mile race to finish fifth overall. Joining him in the top-15 were Tyler Moore (10th, 20:43.96), Jamie Witmer (11th, 20:47.61) and Jack Filan (12th, 20:47.92), while Baylor Franklin finished 21st at 21:21.36.
The Rebels are off next week before heading to Vanderbilt for the Commodore Classic on Sat., Sept. 14.
