RACE FOR EIGHT
The Rebels are currently sitting at No. 7 in NCAA qualification after firing a season-high 4679 at TCU on Feb. 1. Eight teams will advance to the NCAA Rifle Championships held March 13-14 in Lexington, Kentucky. Half of qualification is based off the Rebels' NCAA top-three-score average fired in three separate locations and the other half consists of the NCAA Qualifier match total, held Feb. 22. Ole Miss is looking to score higher than 4674 points this week to increase its average.
TOKYO BOUND
Ole Miss Rifle alum Ali Weisz became the first athlete in program history to qualify for the Olympics. Weisz earned one of two Team USA spots for women's air rifle at the Air Rifle Olympic Trials on Feb. 9. A two-time All-American and member of the Ole Miss rifle team from 2013-17, Weisz earned the right to compete this summer in Tokyo after four days of competition and two separate finals.
SIX OUT OF TEN IS NOT BAD
The Rebels continue to rewrite the record book. This season Ole Miss has posted six of the program's 10 highest aggregate totals. The five best marks thus far (4679, 4676, 4674, 4673, 4672) rank third through seventh in school history.
BROKEN RECORDS
No individual record has been safe as well. Junior Abby Buesseler etched her name alongside one of the best shooters in Rebel history. On Nov. 2, the Stacy, Minnesota, product tied Ali Weisz' individual mark (2014-15) for air rifle with an incredible 597.
Buesseler's efforts also helped Ole Miss set the team air rifle total in the same match at 2372. She also set the aggregate Rebel mark (1183) and is on pace to surpass the smallbore season average set by Shannon Wilson (579.2) back in 2005-06. Buesseler also fired the second-highest smallbore total (588) on Feb. 1
TOPS ACROSS THE BOARD
Ole Miss has been strong in smallbore, air rifle and aggregate total at the national level. The team continues to rank fifth in aggregate, and sits sixth in both air rifle and smallbore.
REBELS AGAINST THE NATION
Senior Alana Kelly, freshman Claire O'Neel and Buesseler have led the Rebels this season with some of the highest averages in the nation. Below is how the trio ranks among the NCAA's best.
Smallbore: Buesseler (11th, 582.5); Kelly (30th, 577.6); O'Neel (33rd, 577.3)
Air Rifle: O'Neel (22nd, 590.4); Buesseler (30th, 589.6); Kelly (31st, 589.5)

LAST MATCH HIGHLIGHTS AT TCU (FEB. 1)
Ole Miss posted its best score of the season and third-highest all-time mark on Feb. 1 in Fort Worth, Texas. Defending national champions and host No. 2 TCU won the match, 4708-4679, but the Rebel trio of Buesseler, Kelly and freshman Kristen Derting all recorded career highs to power Ole Miss.
It marked the third time this season the squad has reset the No. 3 mark in the school record book after shooting a 4674 on Nov. 2 and a 4676 on Jan. 17.
The Rebels also managed the third-most points in program history to begin the day for smallbore with a 2323. Buesseler finished with a personal-best 588 points, which put her just one point behind Ali Weisz' Ole Miss record set back in 2015. Buesseler also tied the best standing school mark (196), dating back to the 2015-16 season.
Ole Miss came out of the gates focused as four Rebels set or tied new career marks in the day's first event, kneeling. Buesseler and Derting ended smallbore particularly strong in standing with the 196 and a 195, respectively. Derting, a Salem, Oregon, native posted a career-high 582 smallbore and 1170 aggregate.
Sophomore Erin Walsh (season-high 581) and junior Sophia Cuozzo (578) had strong matches as non-counters. O'Neel (577) and Kelly (576) completed the Rebel total.
Kelly then tallied her best-ever total in air rifle with 593 points. O'Neel eclipsed the 590-point plateau for the third consecutive match with a 591. Rounding out the Rebel score were Derting (588) and Buesseler (584), while junior Kamilla Kisch registered an impressive 592 as a non-counter.
